What Is Intellectual Disability & Related Disabilities?

Enlightened Home Care provides compassionate, person-centered in-home support for children and adults with intellectual and related disabilities, helping them build independence, stay safe, and live fuller lives at home and in their community. We work alongside families and the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities' Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD-OIDD), formerly DDSN, to support each person's individual goals.

Every person's abilities, routines, and goals are different. We focus on what each individual can do and where they'd like to grow — whether that's cooking a simple meal, building a weekday routine, or enjoying a supported outing in the community. Our caregivers are patient, consistent, and trained to follow each person's individual communication style.

Questions & Answers

Intellectual Disability & Related Disabilities FAQ

We are a provider that works alongside families and the BHDD-OIDD service system, formerly known as DDSN. We do not determine eligibility or approve waiver services — those decisions rest with the state. We focus on the non-medical, in-home support portion of your loved one's plan.
